DALYA ESTATE VINEYARD

The Dalya Estate Vineyard’s two gently sloped acres sit nestled in a unique microclimate at the border of Sebastopol and Forestville, an area renowned for some of the most critically acclaimed Chardonnay vineyards of the Sonoma Coast.

Soil & Climate — Planted in 2003 and farmed sustainably and organically since its inception, the vineyard benefits from a fortuitous confluence of climate, soil, and coastal influence, and consistently yields small & intense clusters with pronounced acid and depth.

Green Valley’s hallmark fog moderates the sun’s intensity during the critical period between veraison and harvest, resulting in narrow temperature swings and relatively cool daytimes that promote highly nuanced flavors in the grapes.

The vineyard’s Goldridge soil is a fine-grained sandy loam with excellent drainage, combined with a clay content that allows the soil to retain moisture and support healthy roots and vine growth even during extended periods of drought.

Farming & Expertise — Before Dalya bought the vineyard, the prior owner, Phillip Knowlton, engaged the expert guidance of Dutton Ranch brothers, Joe and Steve Dutton, to determine the ideal root stock and clone selection to thrive onsite: Wente Clone on 101-14 rootstock, considered a heritage close whose parentage traces back to the 1930s in California.

Since 2012, every harvest from the estate has been vinified as a “single vineyard designate” by a number of outstanding local wineries, including VML, whose  founding winemaker, Ginny Lambrix, was honored with a 94-point rating on the Knowlton Farms 2014 Chardonnay from Robert Parker.

Today, the vineyard benefits from the seasoned viticultural expertise of Eric Neil, of Alta Vineyard Management. Eric advises and executes on all pruning, crop cover, irrigation, and natural pest management practices, and every year proudly supervises the careful hand-harvesting of the Dalya Estate vineyard.

Mascarin Wines — Since 2020, the Dalya Estate Vineyard has had an exclusive relationship with the Mascarin family, whose 32 Winds Wine “10 Year Anniversary Celebration” bottling of the Dalya Estate Chardonnay was a beloved tasting-room only release. Winemaker, Matt Taylor, is the alchemist and architect behind 32 Winds Wines, whose newly launched Mascarin Wines brand features the Dalya Estate Vineyard Chardonnay as a single-vineyard designate and its flagship white wine.

The beautiful Mascarin Wines tasting room, just minutes from Healdsburg’s main plaza, overlooks Dry Creek and offers delightfully personalized wine tastings with a warm welcome from a dedicated team. Guests of the Dalya Estate get extra special treatment, so kindly call ahead, and identify yourself as guests of the estate to set up a tasting experience.
